The president of NUI Maynooth, Professor John Hughes has written (22 December 2009) as follows concerning arrangements following the departure of Professor Comeford on 31 January 2010:

‘I am very pleased to inform you that Professor Jacqueline Hill and Professor Colm Lennon have agreed to jointly take on the Acting Headship of the department from 1st February until the end of August 2010.  I hope to be able to advertise the chair during that period.’
